About Us
Stony Brook Farm is a small, diversified, pasture-based livestock farm set on a hillside of the Schoharie Valley. We currently raise heritage breed pigs, Icelandic and Tunis sheep, goats, laying hens, and meat chickens on pasture. We plan to add beef cattle in 2010.
Our goal is to provide people with an ecological and ethical alternative to industrially produced and distributed meat, poultry, and eggs. We strive to raise animals as naturally as is possible. To this end, we raise all of the animals on rotationally grazed pasture, with portable shelters to provide shade and for protection from wind, rain, sleet, and snow. We feed the pigs and chickens certified organic grain (GMO-, antibiotic, and hormone-free), farm-grown forage, and cull vegetables from a local farm. The lambs and goats are 100% grassfed.
